Leapmotor Keeps Outperform Rating with HK$60 Target, Says CLSA

CLSA has released a research report indicating that total orders for major brands in mainland China rose 10% week-over-week, with growth primarily driven by new model launches such as BYD's Seal 08 and Li Auto's MEGA. Brands without new vehicle releases generally saw a decline in orders during this period. As the market enters its seasonal peak, the firm expects passenger vehicle demand in September to continue a modest recovery, supported by fresh model introductions and a more complete product lineup. However, CLSA projects domestic passenger car sales for September to range between 1.7 million and 1.8 million units, marking a year-on-year decline of roughly 24%, mainly due to the high comparison base caused by demand pulled forward last year.

Both LEAPMOTOR and Geely Automobile have no new models slated for release this month. Leapmotor is set to hold a technology presentation next week, during which the company is anticipated to unveil around two new C/B-series models along with its latest intelligent driving large language model. CLSA has reiterated its "outperform" rating on LEAPMOTOR with a target price of HK$60.
